Co-Sleeping and Its Dangers

See below for some materials you can print out and share with clients when talking about the dangers of co-sleeping.

Infants who sleep in the same bed as an adult are more likely to suffer injuries and even death. Often, the adults will roll over on the infant and accidently suffocate them. That’s what happened to many of the 16 infants who died in 2004 while sharing a bed with an adult.

Preventing those kinds of deaths is a matter of education. Please print out the attached poster and display it in your offices or share it with clients. You can also print out the attached sheet of bookmarks, cut them up, and use them yourself or leave them with clients (we suggest using colored and/or stiff paper).

You can expect more tools in the coming weeks as the office of Communication works to help you increase awareness of preventable injuries and deaths.
