The DFCS Data Analysis unit inspects, cleans, transforms, and models data with the objective of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusions, and supporting fact-based decision making with the goal of improving the lives of Georgia’s families.
Accountability, Research, and Evaluation
The mission of the Accountability, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) unit is to champion identified accountability measures for myriad DFCS programs. ARE also provides research, evaluation, and analyses that ultimately lead to program improvement, more efficient management, and over-arching accountability for DFCS programs and practices.
Office of Quality Management
Evaluation and quality assurance comprise the focus of the Office of Quality Management (OQM). The OQM conducts case reviews and provides quality assurance oversight for child welfare programs. This unit is also responsible for instituting quality control parameters for the Food Stamp/Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
SHINES, the Georgia statewide automated child welfare information system (SACWIS), is a comprehensive case management tool used by child welfare staff. SHINES is maintained by subject-matter experts, Business Analysts, and Help Desk support staff who work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the application meets the needs of staff and is compliant with federal and state policy.
The mission of the Data Integrity unit is to support DFCS through the surety of data quality, integrity, and accuracy while providing a platform for transfer of learning which will subsequently ensure efficient, quality-focused case management.
